Sunday March 3rd

39th Sunday after Pentecost
Sunday of the Prodigal Son

News

  • On Sunday we celebrated Riley’s birthday. We wish her many years. Cookies and cake were served.
  • Now that we have two new Altar servers in training, Fr. Andrew obtained a processional cross and fans from St. Luke. We thank Fr. Paul for the loan. Fr. Andrew also constructed a rack to hold them. They will be used on Sunday.
  • A new Banner has been purchased to be hung outside by the entrance to the chapel stating who we are as Orthodox Christians. It is hoped that it will attract visitors to the chapel.
  • The Chapel will be sending a mission team to work at the Gallup Community Pantry on the Navajo Reservation in July. They will be staying at the Sacred Heart Retreat center rather than the YMCA camp. Ann Salvador will let us know have many we can bring. So far Fr. Andrew, Diane and TJ are planning to go.
  • Fr. Andrew will be away next week. He returns on March 13th. While away, Reader George will lead the Typica service. Everyone attending will be invited to read one of the psalms or prayers. It is important to have full attendance since it seems when Fr. is away, we have visitors. Last Sunday we had a visitor from Minnesota.
  • On Forgiveness Sunday March 17, Fr. Andrew will begin reading the prayer of the Catechumens for Evan, Matthew, and the Mattaliano family. They will begin their preparation for baptism on June 23 which is Pentecost. Fr. is arranging a place for the event.
